No-one who has witnessed the footage of dogs, primates, rats, rabbits and mini-pigs being horribly harmed in toxicity testing will quickly forget it. The proximity to the animals' plight, their confusion and pleading looks, laboured breaths, panicked thrashing, quiet resignation and their piercing screams are the stuff of nightmares.
All MPs have been sent a briefing explaining the footage and the horrors it contains. We know that many people have written to their MPs about this and that many MPs have seen the footage and been as disturbed by it as we were.
We are asking all MPs to show their support for our call to halt all new service licences, review existing service licences and for the government to urgently deliver its 'Replacing Animals in Science Strategy'.
